The Cows

Das Cows ya! Another band it took me a few listens to get into, but once I did I was hooked. 90s Amphetamine Reptile band. Click on the picture for "unofficial" information. Click here to hear 3 of my favorite Cows songs. Funny, I was just talking shit about all the people I've met from Minnesota being assholes. Well I've met Shannon, (with The Heroine Sheiks his later band ) and I could see people thinking he was an asshole. He wasn't to me. I'm quite sure he's forgotten my name (like 3 minutes later), but that's fine with me. I've seen Kevin play with The Melvins but I've never met him so I can't say whether or not he's an asshole.
Here's The Sacred Chao:

John Lennon/The Beatles/The Distraction Boys/The Insomniacrobats

I think they shot the wrong Beatle.Yeah so.... I really like this song.
Here's The Beatles - Hey Bulldog on YouTube:

My life is full of distractions.....
My boss (owner and manager of the Commercial Taphouse)used to do this label called Cryptovision when he lived in NY in the 80s. I'm not sure where you can get stuff from because I'm not sure if he still has all that stuff. Anyway, James (my boss) used to play keyboards for this band called The Distraction Boys, who were on Cryptovision, and man it's pretty smokin' if you like noisey garage rock, which I do (I have my moods). It reminds me of The Oblivions and bands like The Coachwhips in a way, though this little slab came out a bit earlier. It's also live, which in this case means the cymbals are pretty loud and they kinda overpower the keyboards (the reason I wanted to hear this band), but you can still hear them if you listen. Regardless it rocks. You should take a listen to The Distraction Boys - Pay Off The Cops

That's all for today, unless you haven't heard The Insomniacrobats - "That Lady's Face" yet.... in which case check it out, it's the first "song" on their MySpace profile.

The Yes Sirs/Spacemen 3/Anton LaVey/Boyd Rice

The Yes Sirs is Jason (CNP/The Amoeba Men/Fantastic Wonderfuls/Silver Ninjas/The Bermuda Triangles) on keyboards in Richmond, VA and Adam (ex-PCP Roadblock) on a standup drumset in SF Bay area, California. Adam used to live in Richmond, and sometimes he comes back into town and they have a show together. The LP pictured above should be out on CNP Records in the next couple of months. For now...
Listen to The Yes Sirs - Stigmata Man II mp3
or visit www.myspace.com/cnprecords and listen to "Yello Sno Cone"

It seems about time to give props to the band that we got our blog's title from Spacemen 3. The first time Jason played me this band I guess I just wasn't in the mood, and it bored the hell out of me. After sharing a wall with Jason, and hearing him play Spacemen 3 every day for like a month in '04, I sort of took a liking to them. Apparently they were involved in the same scene as The Jesus And Mary Chain, and I guess that make sense. I like JAMC, but I like Spacemen 3 alot more. Not sure what I think about Spritiualized...., I guess I'll have to set aside time one day to check them out a bit more.
Listen to Spacemen 3 - Come Down Easy mp3

That's Anton LaVey... what a guy... now deceased founder of The Church Of Satan.I keep meaning to be him for Halloween. Yeah, it's a novelty, but it's much more interesting than Will Shatner or Leonard Nemoy any day.
Listen to Anton LaVey - Honolulu Baby mp3
or go here and download the whole "Satan Takes A Holiday" record!
This is Boyd Rice. He's a member of The Church Of Satan, as far as I know.
Listen to Boyd Rice (w/Little Fyodor) - The Blackness mp3

The Amoeba Men / Faust

THE AMOEBA MEN have a new CD coming out very soon. March 11th to be exact, will be the CD release show so-to-speak at The Nanci Raygun (929 W. Grace,Richmond,VA.) They will be playing with labelmates Hallelujah! (who are in the process of releasing 2 songs as part of a split 7" with Hex Machine(.....peep that shit, their pictures are hysterical) Also on hand are going to be Brooklyners n0 Things (ex-Liars)and Knife Skills. Should be a rocking good show.

check out "Marinating" from the new CD "...let the infection set in" by going to www.myspace.com/theamoebamen

I just discovered Faust about 3 years ago. Their story is very interesting if you ever get to check it out (www.faust-pages.com...tons of free Faust mp3s). They are lumped in with that whole "Krautrock" thing... in fact they have a song called "Krautrock", A lot of their stuff is disjointed and experimental, which is good, but throughout their career they still managed to put out some really listenable rock songs. This being one of them from the record Faust IV (November,1973)

transition period.

I am currently internet-less until I can pay off some other bills so, I don't have access to cnprecords.com to update it and add files and whatnot. There are a new Yes Sirs song and the debut track of Bermuda Triangles available for your listening pleasure @www.myspace.com/cnprecords.
Please check it out and look for new CNP mp3s from The Insomniacrobats and HOAX very soon.I've been listening to Death From Above 1979, Swell Maps, the new Quintron LP, and Test-Ic-Icles, quite frequently.

Leper Colony / Chrome

Sorry for the delay.... stuff...

Leper Colony hailed from the land of Lynchburg, VA.Home to Jerry Falwell and Liberty University. Some of the same people from Seven Hearts. We're friends with these guys because Jason and I come from an equally as degenerate locale and we've known eachother since before Leper Colony. Bands like The Rejected, The Seven Hearts, Escapeman, just to name three. The Members of this band are teaming up again with another Lynchburg native, (last seen in a really good band from the mid-nineties called Eustress Urchin) as I write this... I will most definately grace this blog with one of their new projects as soon I get a copy from them.

Listen to Leper Colony - Narc

Those Lynchburg boys also turned me on to a really great band that I have since not been able to get tired of hearing. The Jesus Lizard gave me my first glimpse of them on a JL compilation called "BANG", the song was called "Chrome" and I didn't realize until later that they were covering two songs from the band CHROME's "Half Machine Lip Moves" LP This led me to more and more stuff by this band, and the more I heard the more I liked. I chose this track because when I first moved to Richmond, I was with Jason and we ran into Mike (from Lynchburg) and went back to Mike's house and he played an old "Target video" by Chrome and this was the song.

It's also on a Ralph Records compilation called "Subterranean Modern" with that one weird band

Listen To Chrome - Meet You In The Subway.
